Affiliate Churches

An Affiliation is a recognition of another jurisdiction that holds the same basic tenets of faith, and shares a common mission of being Ecumenical, Inclusive and Nonjudgmental.

Since Independent and Old Catholic Churches are autonomous, it is through affiliation that we work together towards unity in the Independent Movement. The Bishops of each jurisdiction enter into formal agreement with each other, which, among other bonds, allows us to share the Eucharist with each other and recognize the ordination and ministerial faculties of each jurisdiction's clergy members.  These churches are called Affiliates or "sister churches".

The Independent Catholic Church of the West is an associate member of the United Catholic Church and has an affiliation with the United Reform Catholic Church International (URCCI), Reconciliation Catholic Church (RCC), and the Independent Catholic Church of Australia.

The Independent Catholic Church of the West has as part of its mission to work toward unity among the Independent Catholic jurisdictions.  This does not mean making everyone the same, nor to bring them all under one authority, but rather, to  respect the special charism of each jurisdiction and join wherever possible in our common mission.
